The Loch Ness Temple was a vast Isu complex located beneath the Loch Ness lake in Scotland. To access the temple, a dark structure emerged from the lake, which uninitiated witnesses mistook for a mythological creature rising from the water. This gave birth to various local legends and stories about a monster dwelling in the lake.[1]
History[edit | edit source]
The temple was rediscovered during the late 9th century by a Christian monk, who took the name Saint Columba the Reborn after an earlier local saint and created a proselytizing sect using the power of the Codex of Eden, an artifact he found inside the temple. After learning about his activities, both Ecbert, an agent of King Alfred the Great, and the Hidden Ones Adelaïde, Edward, and Niels Gunnarsson infiltrated the temple to retrieve the Codex.[1]
Working together to fight Columba's followers, the group activated a mechanism that flooded the temple. While Columba and his remaining followers fled, Adelaïde seized the Codex, intending to deliver it back to her Brotherhood, but Ecbert attempted to stop her by throwing a dagger at her. Adelaïde redirected the attack back at Ecbert, inadvertently killing him, whereupon Edward, angered by his brother's murder, vengefully threw Adelaïde to her death, breaking the Codex in the process.[1]
Ultimately, Edward and Niels managed to escape the flooding temple, with the former recovering the Codex's fragments before they did so. The pair then went their separate ways; while Edward delivered the fragments to King Alfred and joined his burgeoning Order, Niels returned to Ravensthorpe and declined Hytham's invite to formally join the Hidden Ones.[1]
