The Eurotas River is the main river running through Lakonia, Greece. It runs all the way through Lakonia, before emptying into the Laconian Gulf.

According to the tradition, the river was born as the result of efforts by Eurotas, a king of Lakonia. He named the river after himself, and subsequently the region where the river runs most prominently, the Forest of Eurotas.[1]
