Aktis (died 431 BCE) was a fisherman who lived in the Fishing District of Athens, Greece.

Biography[edit | edit source]

A poor man, Aktis attended Kleon's talk of restoring Athens' glory. Because of this, he and his friends, among them Pratinos, were drawn into a plot to murder a statesman and a friend of Perikles, Metiochos.[1]

Together with the others, Aktis procured venomous snakes from a man living outside the city walls. Aktis was bitten by accident, and died from the snake's poison. The others left his body behind the house where they kept the snakes, until they assaulted Metiochos at his home, tied him up, and left him in the middle of the snakes. After the Spartan misthios Kassandra saved Metiochos, she followed the clues he could give her, and found Aktis' corpse.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Aktis, a character in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, shares his name with one of the Heliadae in Greek mythology.
