The Chora of Delphi

The Chora of Delphi was a town located in the eastern part of the Sacred Lands of Apollo in Phokis, Greece, during the 5th century BCE.

Surrounded by farms and olive groves, the Chora provided for the nearby Sanctuary of Delphi and its visitors.[1]

Around 431 BCE, the Pythia lived in the most lavish house in the town. Other residents included Lykaon the healer, as well as his grandmother Praxithea and sister Agave.[1]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The Greek word χώρα (khṓrā) means 'town, village', and was often used for the main settlement of the area.
  • Though there is a modern town roughly where the Chora of Delphi is located in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, there is currently no evidence there having been a village as early as the 5th century BCE. [citation needed]
