Bunkichi's severed head

Bunkichi (文吉, died 1560) was a young villager from Iga, Japan. In 1560, a trio of samurai killed him, severed his head, and brought it back to his village in an attempt to intimidate its inhabitants into paying them tribute. The sight of Bunkichi's head terrified the villagers, including Bunkichi's mother, but Fujibayashi Masayasu confronted and ultimately defeated the samurai with help from Hattori Hanzō.[1]
