Europa speaking to Bayek

Europa was a Greek resident of Egypt who resided in Mareia Port during the reign of Ptolemy XIII.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Europa lived in Mareia Port along with her husband Eryx, who made chariots for a living. In 48 BCE, Eryx was commissioned by soldiers from the nearby Anthylla Outpost to build war chariots for the pharaoh Ptolemy XIII. However, when Eryx did so, the soldiers offered to pay half the agreed price. Eryx refused to accept the payment and was cut down by the soldiers, who then stole his chariot.

Europa was deeply affected by Eryx's death and stopped selling chariots to villagers in the port. When the Medjay Bayek of Siwa, learned of her situation, he accepted her request to destroy the chariot and restore her husband's name and honor.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Europa is a Latinized form of the Greek name Ευρωπη, which means 'wide face' or 'wide eye'.
