Eryx (died 48 BCE) was a chariot-maker who resided in Mareia Port, Egypt with his wife Europa during the reign of Ptolemy XIII.
Biography[edit | edit source]
In 48 BCE, soldiers from the nearby Anthylla Outpost commissioned Eryx to construct a war chariot for the pharaoh Ptolemy XIII. When the chariot was completed, the soldiers offered to pay half the agreed payment, which Eryx refused. Consequently, Eryx was cut down by the soldiers, who stole his chariot in the process.
Legacy[edit | edit source]
In the aftermath of his death, his wife Europa would cease to sell chariots in the town. She later met the Medjay Bayek of Siwa, and requested his aid to destroy Eryx's war chariot to restore his name and honor.
