Side memories were memories of Desmond Miles' ancestors that could not be exactly determined in the timeline as historical event. As a result, side memories were optional missions that could be accessed at any time through the Animus.

Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad's Side Memories[edit | edit source]

When Altaïr was hunting the nine Templars, he also saved citizens who were being abused by the gaurds, climbed towers and tall building to access view points to gain a tactical advantage, collected the flags of the Templars, William of Montferrat, Talal, Garnier de Naplouse and Abu’l Nuquod. During his time in Cyprus, he collected Gold, Silver and Bronze Templar Coins.[1]

Ezio Auditore da Firenze's Side Memories[edit | edit source]

When Ezio Auditore da Firenze was avenging the death of his family, he also beat up husbands who were ill-treating their wives, participated in races against other free-runners, completed assassination contracts for Lorenzo de Medici, delivered letters across cities, visited viewpoints and Templar Lairs, took seals from tombs of old Assassins, collected the Statuettes of Roman gods and goddesses, upgraded Monteriggioni.He also tore down wanted posters, bribed heralds and killed witnesses to reduce his notoriety.[2]

During his time in Rome, he continued to complete [[Assassination Contracts#Rome|assassination contracts and collect feathers, but in addition to those he also started Liberating Rome from the Borgia by saving citizens, renovating Rome and assassinating key Templar supporters. He also destroyed the War Machines made by Leonardo da Vinci for the Borgia and destroyed a secret cult called the Followers of Romulus. He completed many assignments for the thieves, courtesans and assassins. Knowing that he could not take down the Borgia alone, he started to recruit people into the Assassin Order and sent them on mission throughout Europe. At certain moments during his time in Rome, he got visions of Cristina Vespucci.[3]

When Ezio later visited Constantinople in search of the Masyaf Keys, he recaptured the Assassin Dens which were taken over by the Templars and earned all of Piri Reis's bombs. Just like he did in Rome, he recruited Assassins and made them Master Assassins after some time, he also sent them to various parts of the Mediterranean and slowly eroded Templar rule. He renovated some building in Constantinople and defended Assassin Dens from Templar attacks. He collected Ishak Pasha's memoir pages and found the location of Ishak Pasha's Armour. He found rare copies of books and gave them to Sofia Sartor for reprinting. Through this he found many Secret Locations.[4]

Ratonhnhaké:ton's Side Memories[edit | edit source]

During the American Revolutionary War, Ratonhnhaké:ton collected Benjamin Franklin's almanac pages, collected feathers and located Captain Kidd's treasure. He freed the trade route from pirates, expanded the Davenport Homestead and mapped out the underground tunnel networks which were used by the Masons. He then liberated the district of Boston and New York from Templar control, hunted down dangerous beasts, disproved myths created by the Frontiersmen and beat up champions of the Boston Brawlers.

In the alternate-reality created by the Apple of Eden, Ratonhnhaké:ton liberated convoys and found lucid memories in the Frontier, Boston and New York. He saved citizens from wolves, fed starving civilians and saved them from the bluecoats.[5]

Edward Kenway's Side Memories[edit | edit source]

During the Golden Age of Piracy, Edward Kenway collected sea shanties for his crew, freed and saved pirates, upgraded the Jackdaw, collected Mayan Stelae and unearthened keystones. He killed [Templar Agent|Templar Agents] for their keys to open the Templar Armour. Using the Jackdaw, he captured forts and completed naval contracts. In order to help the Assassins he completed Assassination Contracts.[6]
