Long Bay

Long Bay is a bay located in the northwestern part of Jamaica. The Isu structure known as the Observatory was located near the bay, protected by the dense jungle and the native Guardians.
History[edit | edit source]
In the late 17th century, the Sage Thom Kavanagh sailed to Long Bay in search of the Observatory.[1] He encountered the Guardians, learning they had been tasked with the site's protection by a previous Sage, and was allowed to live alongside them. Following Kavanagh's death in 1706, the Guardians buried him in an unmarked grave similarly to his predecessor, to prevent his blood from being used to access the Observatory.[2]
In 1719, the Sage Bartholomew Roberts arrived in Long Bay accompanied by his crew and fellow pirate Edward Kenway to find the Observatory. Navigating through the jungle, Edward dispatched all Guardians in their path to keep Roberts and his men safe. After arriving at the Observatory's entrance, Roberts shot his men and entered the complex with Edward, though he ultimately betrayed him and sealed him inside after taking the Crystal Skull powering the Observatory. Edward managed to escape, but was abandoned by his own crew and captured by Roberts, who sold him to the British authorities.[3]
Three years later, the Templar Grand Master Laureano de Torres y Ayala led an expedition to Long Bay to access the Observatory, massacring countless Guardians along the way and setting their village ablaze. Edward, having since become affiliated with the Assassins and recovered the Crystal Skull after killing Roberts, resolved to stop Torres and followed the trail of destruction left by the Templars in their wake. He eventually assassinated the Grand Master inside the Observatory, after which the Assassins returned the Crystal Skull to its proper place to stabilize the complex.[4]
