Kallipides (died 420s BCE) was an old blacksmith living in the village of Alponos in Lokris during the 5th century BCE.

History[edit | edit source]

Once considered the best blacksmith in all of Lokris, his days of grandeur ended when he lost his sight. By the time of the Peloponnesian War, when the Spartan misthios Kassandra met him, he was completely blind due to the imposter "Eagle Bearer" and his attempt at lighting the old man's forge[1]- which, in reality, was a ploy to sabotage Alponos. In addition, the "Eagle Bearer" had stolen Kallipedes' tools.

After Kassandra recovered his tools from local pirates, he tripped and fell over, only to be crushed to death by several tools falling on him.[1]
