Triton

Triton is a Greek god and messenger of the sea. As son of Poseidon and Amphitrite, god and goddess of the sea, he is often depicted as a merman.

Triton possessed a conch shell with which he controlled the sea, creating or calming waves. Like his father, he wielded a trident. ^{[citation needed]}

Influence

In 5th century BCE, a small island in the Aegean Sea was named after him; the island housed a large statue of, as well as a temple dedicated to, his father Poseidon.

During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra recovered Triton's legendary conch shell made from gold at the request of the pirate queen Xenia.

Aletheia's simulation of Atlantis

In Aletheia's simulation of Atlantis was a garden named after him, in the northeastern part of the city.
