Ægir was a jötunn and a personification of the sea in Norse mythology. He was the father of nine daughters who were said to represent the waves.
History
Ægir appeared in Eivor Varinsdottir's dreams as she relived the memories of Havi via an herbal concoction[1]. In them, he played host to Havi on his arrival to Jötunheimr. Prior to Havi's visit, Ægir lost a wager to Suttungr and had to give up his magic cauldron which he had received from Thor.[2] However, while in transit the cauldron, was stolen by the sons of Hymir, it's original owner. Ægir tasked Havi with recovering the cauldron and delivering it to Suttungr for a feast he was throwing.[3]
