Tychon (died 38 BCE) was a Greek official and nomarch of Thebes Nome during the reign of Cleopatra.

Biography

In 38 BCE, Tychon controlled Thebes, where he demanded a large tax from citizens. During this time, he became interested in finding Akhenaten's sanctuary.[1]

Sometime later, he was assassinated by the Hidden One Bayek of Siwa in the Theban Necropolis, who retrieved his ledger containing the location of a statue of Amun.[2]

Behind the scenes

Tychon is a Greek name derived from the word τυγχανω (tynchano) meaning 'hit the mark, succeed'.
