South Africa is a country in southern Africa. It is bordered by Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe to the north, Mozambique and Eswatini to the east, and enclaves the country Lesotho.
History
War with England
In the mid-19th century, the British Empire was at war with the Xhosa Kingdom of South Africa and thus Royal Navy sent a frigate, the HMS Birkenhead, as means of reinforcements. In 1852, however, the frigate hit a large rock and it began to sink at the country's coast. Many British soldiers died, others were evacuated in time, and few survived the impact.[1]
