The Sinkholes of Herakles was the southern region of Argolis, Greece.

Years before meeting the Sparta misthios Kassandra, Barnabas and his crew found a mauled, dying man on the nearby beach. Before he passed away, the man warned Barnabas of the beast haunting the region.[1]

During the Peloponnesian War Kassandra explored the area, finding it largely uninhabited. One reason for this was the beast, which Kassandra hunted down and slew at the request of Daphnae, the leader of the Daughters of Artemis.[2]
