History
- Main article: The Apple's Journey
After escaping The Vatican, Ezio and Mario took to the rooftops and made their way to a high tower overlooking a canal. Once there, Ezio withdrew the Apple of Eden from his cloak and prepared to drop it into the river… but then he hesitated. Acknowledging that destroying such a powerful artifact wasn’t a decision to be taken lightly, Mario offered to keep the Apple safe until Ezio had made up his mind, and the two rode back to their base of operations in the fortress town of Monteriggioni.[1]
Right before the Siege of Monteriggioni, Ezio handed the Apple to Mario, who was killed by Cesare Borgia and the Apple taken. Four years later, Ezio managed to take back the Apple hidden by Rodrigo Borgia in St. Peter's Basilica, and use it to demilitarize Cesare's army, and look into the future to locate Cesare in 1507. Realizing the power of the Apple, Ezio hid the Apple in a First Civilization Vault beneath the Santa Maria Aracoeli, in central Rome.
Abilities
In Assassin's Creed, the Apple is used by Al Mualim to coerce the members of the Assassin Order into obeying his will, namely, killing Altaïr. The Apple is also used for neural paralysis, up to nine hologram doubles, and blinds Altaïr before his assassination of Al Mualim - the player must find the glowing light coming from the apple to find him. At the end of the level, the Apple shows a map of the world, and in later games is depicted as a data storage device.
In Assassin's Creed II, Ezio uses the Apple in Rome to create four hologram doubles. While these doubles do not deal damage, they can distract Rodrigo. When Rodrigo steals the apple, he combines it with the Staff of Eden to create the key to the Vault, which he claims is a "god-felling weapon". In the vault, Minerva upgrades the Apple.
In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Ezio can use the Apple as a weapon. By charging the Apple, a golden circle appears around him, followed by a smaller white circle. Enemies within the golden circle upon release will proceed to fight each other, while enemies in the white circle will fall to the ground in agony, which is depicted as a kill-by-insanity. The downside to the Apple is that it will drain the player's health, though health will recover faster over time. Whether this is due to overuse of the Apple or of a desynchronization between Desmond's and Ezio's memories is unknown. Note that the circles will decrease in diameter a little upon release.
Trivia
- There is an anomaly in what happened to the First Apple of Eden. In the ending of Assassins Creed: Brotherhood, Ezio hid it underneath Santa Maria Aracoeli, and it stayed hidden until the modern day Assassins located it in 2012. Hence, there is no way that Napoleon and Houdini could have used this particular Apple. Ubisoft has not rectified the mistake.
- The Apple effects and can potentially kill almost anyone, including allies (such as mercenaries, and Apprentices) and civilians.
- There are multiple apples of eden, and is probably the only ones of the same name as each other whereas other pieces would be forged with a completely different form.
- following on to the multiple apples of eden it seems that not only are they sources of control but also storage devices used by those who came before as they can have different pieces of information in each one but still holding masses of it each and that they can analyse the users memories and calculate the outcomes or generate them via influence to the users surroundings E.g Giovanni borgia son of perotto calderon was able to create anything with his mind by touching the apple, ezio understanding what Cesare had meant when he will break free just after his arrest by Fabio Orsini.
