Prexileos was a man living in Chalkis City, Euboea, Greece during the Peloponnesian War. He was the husband of Idyia, and together, they ran a theatre in the city.
History
Prexileos met and married Idyia at some point, and they set up a theatre, taking in orphans and lost children and teaching them drama.[1]
Sometime before 431 BCE, the couple was approached by a smuggler working for the criminal group called the Dagger. The smuggler paid the couple to use the children in their care to spread the Dagger's propaganda. They accepted and were satisfied with the deal until the smuggler ceased to pay them, exchanging payment for threats.[2]
Around that time, the Spartan misthios Kassandra was tasked by the slave Agapios to deal with the Dagger, and he suggested she meet Prexileos and Idyia. This she did, encountering the couple as they argued about what to do with the smuggler. While Idyia abhorred the idea of killing him, Prexileos was ready to attempt that himself. Kassandra offered to go in his stead, and they directed her to the smuggler. Kassandra killed the man and returned to the theatre, finding that the Dagger's thugs had attacked Prexileos and Idyia. She saved the couple and killed the bandits.[2]
