Phaistos Village was a village located in Messara, Greece. Formerly a city-state, the city was largely destroyed by the neighboring city, Gortyn, which coveted the former's territory. It was also known for having the second largest palace on the island, after the Knossos Palace.

By the 5th century BCE, during the Peloponnesian War the Spartan misthios Kassandra passed by the village that was all that remained of the city.[1]

Trivia

  • Due to being found in 1908 within the remains of the palace of Phaistos, Phaistos Disc was given such a name.
