The banner of Korinthia

Korinthia is a regional unit of Greece in the Peloponnese. Named after its main city, Korinth, the area encompassed the Isthmus of Poseidon, the only land route between the Peloponnese and Attika, and it was a strategic zone in times of war between Sparta and Athens.

The land was also renowned for its abundance of clay pits, and pottery was a principal part of its economy during the 5th century BCE. Another thing Korinthia, and especially Korinth, was famous for were the hetaerae.[1]

During the Peloponnesian War the Spartan misthios Kassandra visited Korinthia.
