Alkibiades (c. 450 BCE – c. 404 BCE) was an Athenian statesman, orator, and general.

A friend of Sokrates and a relative of Perikles, he made the aquaintance of the Spartan misthios, Kassandra, in 431 BCE.

Alkibiades makes his first appearance in a gathering hosted by Perikles, in which he arrives at the "party" preparing to indulge freely.
