Aristomachos (died c. 429 BCE) was a Greek man who lived during the 5th century BCE.

Biography

"Search the caves. That's where they'll be hiding. Beware though, they're beyond reason."
―Aristomachos warning Kassandra, 420s BCE.[src]-[m]

During the Peloponnesian War, Aristomachos was part of group seeking an ancient stele dating back to the Mycenaean period. After finding it in the Tomb of Orion in Boeotia, a fight occurred over the ownership of the stele. Aristomachos was mortally wounded and left behind as his brethren departed for a cave nearby with the stele in hand.[1]

A while later, Aristomachos was found by the Spartan misthios Kassandra, who was also looking for the ancient stele. Aristomachos directed her to the cave, warning her that his brethren were either dead or mad before succumbing to his wounds.[1]
