Pactyas (died c. 422 BCE), also known by his cryptonym the Huntsman, was a member of the Order of the Ancients in Persia during the 5th century BCE. As leader of the Order of Hunters, he was tasked with hunting down and eliminating the "Tainted Ones".
Formerly a member of the Persian elite and a friend of both Amorges and Artabanus, he joined the former after the latter attempted to assassinate King Artaxerxes I.[1]
Amorges then appointed Pactyas as head of the Order of Hunters and tasked him with hunting down and eliminating Artabanus, now known as Darius. This mission would eventually bring him into conflict with the Spartan misthios Kassandra, a so-called "Tainted One" in Makedonia, Greece.[1]
