"The fight is only over when I'm the last man left standing."
―Okytos's motto.[src]

Okytos the Great (died 420s BCE) was a member of the Heroes of the Cult branch of the Cult of Kosmos during the Peloponnesian War.

Biography

When and where and why Okytos developed his taste for brutality is unknown. Nonetheless, by the Peloponnesian War he had climbed the ranks of the Cult of Kosmos enough to be charged with training young mercenaries to become guards and soldiers for Kosmos and the cult. His methods were base and effective; those who failed to meet his standards were turned into bloody sacrifices.[1]

Using the Cult's connections, Okytos secured the Temple of Poseidon within Cape Sounion's sanctuary for the Cult's use, turning the temple grounds into a training camp.[1]

In a letter written in blood the Spartan misthios Kassandra found within the Sanctuary of Kosmos in Phokis, Okytos reminisced about a bloody battle the night before, commending how well his 'fledglings' were learning, and going into detail about how to best beat an opponent. In the same letter, Okytos invited the receiver to come and see the training at Cape Sounion, suggesting they "bring heads."[1]

At some point, a fellow member of the Heroes of the Cult branch, Deianeira, sent a letter to Okytos, bemoaning the fact that the leader of Boeotia was a coward, and bragging about getting a mace "just like our Sage."[1]

With the letter she'd found at the Sanctuary of Kosmos, Kassandra was able to hunt down Okytos to the Temple of Poseidon in Cape Sounion. Like all the others, Okytos, too, fell to Kassandra's blade.[1]
