Heraklion (Ancient Greek: Ἡράκλειον) is the largest city and the administrative capital of the Greek island of Crete. Named after the hero Herakles, in classical antiquity it was a town located in Octopus Bay in Messara.

During the Peloponnesian War the town was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra. At this point, the town served as the base of operations for the Swordfish, an operative of the Heroes of the Cult branch of the Cult of Kosmos.[1]
