However, upon the discovery, Grace and the others were attacked by the Templars, who were tracking their use of the Animus.<ref name="ACLD21">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants]]'' – Chapter Twenty-One</ref> Upon seeing David tased, Grace attacked the Templar agent before being restrained. She, David, Natalya, and Sean were taken to the Aerie while Monroe, Owen, and Javier were able to escape. There, they met Dr.[[Victoria Bibeau]] and the Aerie's director [[Isaiah]], who introduced themselves as Templars. They discussed how Monroe is not in the right mindset and how they differed from their past Templar counterparts and want the world safe in their image. Somewhat gaining their trust, Grace was able to admit the possible location of the Faith prong.<ref name="ACLD22">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants]]'' – Chapter Twenty-Two</ref>

===Spying on the Templars===
Initially, Grace and David's father took them out of the Aerie. However, after a shooting happened near their home, their father re-enlisted for their safety.<ref name="ACTK4">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Tomb of the Khan]]'' – Chapter Four</ref> While there, Grace and David  promised each other to keep an eye on the Templars especially Isaiah. They even noticed Isaiah placing too much attention on Sean, who was reliving [[Tommy Greyling]]'s memories while he was in [[London]] chasing down Templar agent [[Alice (Templar)|Alice]]. They soon came to check up on Sean when he abruptly desynchronized and was taken to the infirmary.<ref name="ACLC3">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Locus]]'' – [[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Locus 3|Issue #3]]</ref>

Soon, they noticed that Isaiah had taken a particular interest in Sean, who was reliving [[Tommy Greyling]]'s memories of chasing down the Templar agent [[Alice (Templar)|Alice]] in [[London]]. After Sean abruptly [[Synchronization|desynchronized]] and was taken to the infirmary, the Collins siblings went to check up on him.<ref name="ACLC3">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Locus]]'' – [[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Locus 3|Issue #3]]</ref>

Although concerned, Grace and David watched Natalya come and berate Isaiah for using Sean. However, when Isaiah offered them to leave, only Natalya objected. When she left, the Collins followed her. Following Natalya, they told her that they understood that the Templars may be untrustworthy especially Isaiah. However, they also stated that they will have to be there when Sean is not useful to Isaiah and pick him back up.<ref name="ACLC3"/>
Concerned for their friend's well-being, Grace and David watched Natalya come and berate Isaiah for using Sean. However, when Isaiah offered them the choice to continue their work or leave, only Natalya objected. After she stormed off, the Collins followed her outside and comforted her, assuring her that they understood her frustrations but that they had to pretend to be obedient until they deduced the Templars' true intentions. They also stated that they had to be there when Sean was no longer useful to Isaiah and pick him back up.<ref name="ACLC3"/>

After Sean was dismissed due to the last simulation revealed Alice escaped Greyling, Grace, David, and Natalya consoled him but also discussed how something was off. Talking about how Greyling would not have given up, they all met with Isaiah and convinced him to have Sean go back into the Animus to check if Greyling continued his investigation. After determining that Alice destroyed the [[Voynich manuscript]] and committed suicide, Isaiah thanked them and apologized for his hasty actions before letting them go for the day.<ref name="ACLC4">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Locus]]'' – [[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Locus 4|Issue #4]]</ref>
After Sean was dismissed by Isaiah due to the last simulation showing Alice seemingly escaping from Greyling, Grace, David, and Natalya consoled him. Feeling that something was off, the teenagers talked about how it made no sense for Greyling to have given up and how there were only so many ways Alice could have left London. After explaining their theory to Isaiah, the Templar was convinced and allowed Sean to return to the Animus, revealing that Alice had killed herself and destroyed the [[Voynich manuscript]] to prevent Greyling from recovering it. Satisfied, Isaiah thanked the teenagers and apologized for his hasty actions before giving them the rest of the day off.<ref name="ACLC4">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Locus]]'' – [[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Locus 4|Issue #4]]</ref>

Grace began to desire to feel useful rather than waiting around all day. With Victoria, she began to relive the memories of [[Masireh]], a gold trader living in [[Timbuktu]].<ref name="ACTK4"/> However, Grace's simulations led to nothing to further the Templars' plan to find the next prong. Meeting with Isaiah, she stated that she wanted to be more help but he reassured her that she is before being dismissed. Meeting up with Sean and David, she began to grow annoyed over David's enthusiasm over his simulations as a Tuskegee airman.<ref name="ACTK8">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Tomb of the Khan]]'' – Chapter Eight</ref>
After several weeks at the Aerie, Grace began to want to feel useful rather than waiting around all day. With Victoria's help, she relived the memories of [[Masireh]], a gold trader from [[Timbuktu]].<ref name="ACTK4"/> However, Masireh's memories proved to be a dead end in the Templars' search for the next Trident prong. Speaking with Isaiah, she expressed her desire to be of more help, but he reassured her that she was before dismissing her. Grace soon heard that David wanted to investigate the other parts of the Aerie. Dismissing the thought, Grace learned that David snuck around the Aerie and how he heard Isaiah order his security to kill Owen and Javier. However, she refused to believe him and let it go as a dream from sleepwalking.<ref name="ACTK10">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Tomb of the Khan]]'' – Chapter Ten</ref>

However, she refused to believe him and dismissed the incident as one of David's sleepwalking-induced dreams.<ref name="ACTK10">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Tomb of the Khan]]'' – Chapter Ten</ref>

Grace and David later met their father on his visit while she made sure that David did not tell him on what he heard and saw. However, all the teens were called by Victoria and Isaiah, who saw the footage of David's incursion. As a result, they almost terminated their stays and placed a curfew on all of them. Blaming David, Grace and Sean left him to think about what he had done.<ref name="ACTK15">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Tomb of the Khan]]'' – Chapter Fifteen</ref>

In the night, Grace woke up to a siren and David coming into her room. Meeting with Natalya and Sean, they decide to investigate but Sean decided against it and went back to sleep. Venturing from their rooms, they saw no security and wondered what had happened. They soon come across Monroe, who broke in to rescue them from Abstergo. Skeptic of him, Grace saw Natalya and David agree to leave with him. Not wanting to worry, Grace was told by David that he cannot. However, he left with them while Grace stayed behind.<ref name="ACTK17">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Tomb of the Khan]]'' – Chapter Seventeen</ref>

Grace soon joined a meeting with Sean and Owen, who coincidentally aided in a rescue mission with Javier and the Assassin [[Griffin (Assassin)|Griffin]] but was captured. In the meeting, Isaiah tried to convince Owen to help him but Owen resisted until mention of reliving his father's memories. With all that transpired, Grace admitted to take some time before going back into the Animus.<ref name="ACTK20">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Tomb of the Khan]]'' – Chapter Twenty</ref>
The next day, Grace joined a meeting with Sean and Owen, who had coincidentally aided in a separate rescue mission with Javier and the Assassin [[Griffin (Assassin)|Griffin]] but had been captured. During the meeting, Isaiah tried to convince Owen to help him, but the boy refused until the Templar offered him an opportunity to relive his [[Owen Meyers' father|father]]'s memories. With everything that had transpired, Grace admitted to wishing to take some time off before going back into the Animus.<ref name="ACTK20">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Tomb of the Khan]]'' – Chapter Twenty</ref>

Grace soon met Owen, who relived his father's memories before his arrest, and talked about how they felt. Yet, they later met with Victoria and Sean while Owen asked to meet with Monroe. Victoria remained ambivalent and revealed that Isaiah left the Aerie earlier. After the meeting, Grace aided Owen who wanted to follow Isaiah but also find Monroe. Reluctant, Grace followed Owen's lead.<ref name="ACTK22">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Tomb of the Khan]]'' – Chapter Twenty-Two</ref>
Grace later met with Owen after he had relived his father's memories before his arrest, and talked about their feelings. Shortly after, they met with Sean and Victoria, and Owen asked to speak with a captive Monroe, claiming that Isaiah had promised he would be able to do so. However, Victoria remained ambivalent and revealed that Isaiah had left the Aerie earlier. After the meeting, Grace, despite her reluctance, agreed to aid Owen, who wanted to find Monroe.<ref name="ACTK22">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Tomb of the Khan]]'' – Chapter Twenty-Two</ref>

However, during their sneaking, Grace and Owen were caught by the head of security [[Cole]] and taken by gunpoint. Fortunately, she took him to Monroe and aided in their escape. Placed in a shipping container heading to [[Mongolia]], Grace and Owen asked Monroe about the prong's location. They all detailed that this prong must be in Mongolia and the other may be in [[Scandinavia]]. Monroe divulged more on their DNA being part of the [[Ascendance Event]], a culminative event that may have a buried memory from the past.<ref name="ACTK24">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Tomb of the Khan]]'' – Chapter Twenty-Four</ref>

Placed in a shipping container headed to [[Mongolia]], Grace and Owen asked Monroe about the Fear prong's location. After concluding that the prong was in Mongolia and the third and final one was likely in [[Scandinavia]], Monroe divulged more information, telling the teenagers about their DNA being part of the "[[Ascendance Event]]", a culminative event possibly influenced by memories from the past.<ref name="ACTK24">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Tomb of the Khan]]'' – Chapter Twenty-Four</ref>

Arriving in Mongolia, Grace and her group saw that they were in Isaiah's camp. Before they could leave, Isaiah already knew and called them out of hiding. Restrained, they were taken to be restrained and then Grace heard Isaiah's order to kill the Assassins nearby. Stopping him, Grace told him to use color lights to signal David. Convinced, Isaiah followed her as they used the lights. Soon enough, David came alone and was captured by the Templars.<ref name="ACTK26">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Tomb of the Khan]]'' – Chapter Twenty-Six</ref>
In Mongolia, Grace, Owen, and Monroe saw that they were in Isaiah's camp, though before they could leave, Isaiah revealed that he was aware of their presence and called them out of hiding. Captured, the trio were taken to be restrained before Grace heard Isaiah's order to kill the Assassins nearby. Worried for her brother's safety, Grace stopped Isaiah and told him to use colored lights to signal David and lure him to them. The plan was successful and David, thinking his sister was trying to contact him, came to the camp alone, where he was captured by the Templars.<ref name="ACTK26">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Tomb of the Khan]]'' – Chapter Twenty-Six</ref>

Interrogated, David admitted where the Assassins went after Grace pleaded him to listen to the director. Isaiah left with his team while leaving Grace and the rest guarded. Signaling each other, Grace and Owen took down the guards in their way and rescued themselves and Monroe in the process. Retrieving David, they followed David towards the right location.<ref name="ACTK26">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Tomb of the Khan]]'' – Chapter Twenty-Six</ref>
Interrogated, David revealed where the Assassins had gone after Grace pleaded with him to be cooperative. Isaiah then departed with his team, leaving Grace and the others at the camp under guard. Feeling a strong Bleeding Effect between them, Grace and Owen were able to coordinate with each other to take down the Abstergo guards and free themselves, Monroe, and David, before the latter revealed that he had misled the Templars and offered to take them to [[Möngke Khan]]'s tomb, where the Fear prong was buried.<ref name="ACTK26">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Tomb of the Khan]]'' – Chapter Twenty-Six</ref>

They traversed the [[Burkhan Khaldun]] and found Natalya and Javier at the tomb. Catching up, Grace and the others kept digging until they found an access point. Yet, they all were cornered by Isaiah and the Templars. When Grace, Owen, and Javier tried to fight back, the Templars restrained them while Isaiah thanked them for their help.<ref name="ACTK27">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Tomb of the Khan]]'' – Chapter Twenty-Seven</ref>

Fortunately, the Assassins Griffin and [[Yanmei]] came and engaged the Templars in a fight. In the scuffle, Grace and the boys were able to knock out their guards and fight against the Templar troops. However, in the commotion, Isaiah acquired the Fear prong and used it on all of them. When Yanmei tried to stop him, Isaiah fatally stabbed her and left all of them after renouncing the Templars. With nowhere else to go, they all returned back to the Templars' camp. There, they met with Victoria, who arrived with her men, and admitted that Isaiah left a manifesto and how he had both prongs. Meeting with Griffin, Victoria soon agreed to a ceasefire to beat Isaiah.<ref name="ACTK28">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Tomb of the Khan]]'' – Chapter Twenty-Eight</ref>

Back at the Aerie, Grace and her group were given a choice by Victoria to walk away or face Isaiah. They all agreed to help stop Isaiah.<ref name="ACFG2">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Fate of the Gods]]'' – Chapter Two</ref> With Victoria, they were told about their ancestor [[Östen Jorundsson]], a renowned farmer and warrior, being in 10th century [[Sweden]] and Grace volunteered David to be first to go into the Animus. ====Venturing into the Collective Unconscious====
Grace witnessed her brother desynchronize after his first attempt at reliving the memories of their ancestor [[Östen Jorundsson]], a 10th-century farmer and warrior from [[Sweden]].<ref name="ACFG3"/> Speaking with David afterwards, Grace learned that Östen had owned a [[Slavery|slave]], which David's moral compass could not handle. Despite her own misgivings, Grace volunteered to take her brother's place in the Animus and was able to accept their ancestor's past.<ref name="ACFG4">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Fate of the Gods]]'' – Chapter Four</ref>
After some time, Grace was contacted by David through the Animus and asked to switch out. Believing in him, she asked Victoria to give David one more chance and the doctor agreed. Out of the Animus, she saw David succeed in accepting Östen's past and connecting with his memories.<ref name="ACFG9">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Fate of the Gods]]'' – Chapter Nine</ref>

Venturing more around the Aerie, she came across Isaiah's library and found evidence of Isaiah being part of the [[Instruments of the First Will]]. She shared her findings with Monroe due to her distrust of the Assassins and the Templars. Asking about what Owen and Natalya were doing, Grace offered to join them. After being explained of the dangers, Grace joined Owen and Natalya on their journey to the collective unconsciousness.<ref name="ACFG12">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Fate of the Gods]]'' – Chapter Twelve</ref>

Walking to a mountain, the trio found an elderly man with his dog. The man told them that he is dying but needs a favor. He asks them to take his dog once he goes, to which Owen agreed heartily. When the man passed, Owen stayed with the dog, who laid besides his dead master, while Grace and Natalya left to get back on their path.<ref name="ACFG14">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Fate of the Gods]]'' – Chapter Fourteen</ref>  After a moment, the girls were joined by Owen and the dog. Finding themselves at a new mountain, Grace and her team came at the end of the path, where they saw two paths up the mountain. One held a rope to the light while the other path was a steep climb. Grace managed to convince her team to take the harsher route, which soon changed to have an abyss. During their trek, Grace saw Owen and Natalya nearly give up as Natalya nearly fell into the abyss. With Owen and Grace, they pulled her up and continued up to the summit. There, they saw a dome emerge from the mountain.<ref name="ACFG18">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Fate of the Gods]]'' – Chapter Eighteen</ref>

Entering into the dome, they were soon met by a towering figure who introduced herself as [[Minerva]]. She also divulged of the artifacts they left behind and how the Trident should not be left in anyone's hands. With this memory, she promised them that they now have a shield to counter the Trident's abilities before saying farewell. After their meeting and David's last session,<ref name="ACFG22">''[[Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Fate of the Gods]]'' – Chapter Twenty-Two</ref>, Grace, Owen, and Natalya were chosen to go with Griffin to [[Västerås]], Sweden, the last known location of the Devotion prong. Upon arrival, Grace used the Bleeding Effect to recall Östen's memories and lead the group to the prong's last known location. There, they came across ''[[Dolkkälla]]'', a man-made spring and building named after a "dagger." With Griffin, Grace entered the building to investigate. Grace Collins (born 2001) is an Afro-American teenager, the elder sister of David Collins, and a descendant of the 19th-century slave Abraham and his daughter Eliza, the Wangaran gold trader Masireh, and the Swedish farmer and soldier Östen Jorundsson. In 2016, she was part of a group of teenagers who, through the use of an Animus, discovered clues leading to one of the Pieces of Eden, the Trident, attracting the attention of both the Assassins and the Templars.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Search for the Faith prong[edit | edit source]

In 2016, Grace and her brother were recruited by Sebastian Monroe to go into a shared simulation along with other teens: Owen Meyers, Javier Mondragón, Sean Molloy, and Natalya Aliyev.[1] After Monroe explained the secret war between the Assassins and Templars, he asked the teenagers to aid him in finding the prongs of the Trident of Eden so he could hide them from both factions. Along with the others, Grace entered the Animus and relived the memories of Eliza, a servant to William M. Tweed who became involved with the American Assassins during the New York City draft riots, while David relived the memories of Eliza's father Abraham.[2]

During the simulation, Grace began to feel the Bleeding Effect when her ancestor used her Eagle Vision[3] and learned under Varius, an Assassin and Owen's ancestor.[4] At the end, she discovered that Eliza had recovered the Trident's Faith prong from the Templar Cudgel Cormac—Javier's ancestor—and had given it to General Ulysses S. Grant to end the Civil War.[5]

However, upon the discovery, Grace and the others were attacked by the Templars, who were tracking their use of the Animus.[6] Upon seeing David tased, Grace attacked the Templar agent responsible before being restrained. She, David, Natalya, and Sean were then taken to the Aerie while Monroe, Owen, and Javier managed to escape. There, they met Dr. Victoria Bibeau and the Aerie's director Isaiah, who introduced themselves as Templars. They discussed how Monroe was not in the right mindset and how they differed from their past Templar counterparts, wishing to see the world safe in their image. Somewhat convinced by the Templars' words, Grace told them about the Faith prong's possible location.[7]

Spying on the Templars[edit | edit source]

Initially, Grace and David's father took them out of the Aerie. However, after a shooting happened near their home, their father re-enlisted them for their safety.[8] While at the Aerie, Grace and David promised each other to keep an eye on the Templars, especially Isaiah, as they did not fully trust them. Soon, they noticed that Isaiah had taken a particular interest in Sean, who was reliving Tommy Greyling's memories of chasing down the Templar agent Alice in London. After Sean abruptly desynchronized and was taken to the infirmary, the Collins siblings went to check up on him.[9]

They also stated that they had to be there when Sean was no longer useful to Isaiah and pick him back up.[9]

After explaining their theory to Isaiah, the Templar was convinced and allowed Sean to return to the Animus, revealing that Alice had killed herself and destroyed the Voynich manuscript to prevent Greyling from recovering it. Satisfied, Isaiah thanked the teenagers and apologized for his hasty actions before giving them the rest of the day off.[10]

Search for the Fear prong[edit | edit source]

After several weeks at the Aerie, Grace began to want to feel useful rather than waiting around all day. With Victoria's help, she relived the memories of Masireh, a gold trader from Timbuktu.[8] However, Masireh's memories proved to be a dead end in the Templars' search for the next Trident prong. Speaking with Isaiah, she expressed her desire to be of more help, but he reassured her that she was before dismissing her. Afterwards, Grace met up with Sean and David and began to grow annoyed at her brother's enthusiasm over his simulations as a Tuskegee airman.[11]

Grace soon heard that David wanted to investigate the other parts of the Aerie. Dismissing the thought, Grace learned that David had snuck around the Aerie at night and overheard Isaiah placing a kill order on Owen and Javier. However, she refused to believe him and dismissed the incident as one of David's sleepwalking-induced dreams.[12]

The siblings later met their father when he came to visit, during which Grace made sure that David did not tell him about what he had heard and seen. However, all the teenagers were soon called by Victoria and Isaiah, who had seen the footage of David's incursion. As a result, they almost terminated their stays and placed a curfew on all of them. Blaming David, Grace and Sean left him to think about what he had done.[13]

At night, Grace woke up to the sound of a siren and David coming into her room. Meeting with Natalya and Sean, they decided to investigate, but Sean was reluctant and went back to sleep. Venturing from their rooms, they saw no security and wondered what had happened. They soon came across Monroe, who had broken in to rescue them from Abstergo. While Natalya and David agreed to leave, Grace was skeptical of Monroe and chose to stay after David assured her that he would be fine.[14]

The next day, Grace joined a meeting with Sean and Owen, who had coincidentally aided in a separate rescue mission with Javier and the Assassin Griffin but had been captured. During the meeting, Isaiah tried to convince Owen to help him, but the boy refused until the Templar offered him an opportunity to relive his father's memories. With everything that had transpired, Grace admitted to wishing to take some time off before going back into the Animus.[15]

After the meeting, Grace, despite her reluctance, agreed to aid Owen, who wanted to find Monroe.[16]

During their sneaking, Grace and Owen were caught by the head of security Cole, who held them at gunpoint. Fortunately, she took them to Monroe and aided in their escape. Placed in a shipping container headed to Mongolia, Grace and Owen asked Monroe about the Fear prong's location. After concluding that the prong was in Mongolia and the third and final one was likely in Scandinavia, Monroe divulged more information, telling the teenagers about their DNA being part of the "Ascendance Event", a culminative event possibly influenced by memories from the past.[17]

The plan was successful and David, thinking his sister was trying to contact him, came to the camp alone, where he was captured by the Templars.[18]

Interrogated, David revealed where the Assassins had gone after Grace pleaded with him to be cooperative. Isaiah then departed with his team, leaving Grace and the others at the camp under guard. Feeling a strong Bleeding Effect between them, Grace and Owen were able to coordinate with each other to take down the Abstergo guards and free themselves, Monroe, and David, before the latter revealed that he had misled the Templars and offered to take them to Möngke Khan's tomb, where the Fear prong was buried.[18]

Traversing the Burkhan Khaldun, the group arrived at the tomb and found Natalya and Javier already there. After catching up, Grace and the others kept digging until they found an access point. However, they were all cornered by Isaiah and the Templars, who had followed them. When Grace, Owen, and Javier tried to fight back, the Templars restrained them as Isaiah thanked the teenagers for their help.[19]

Fortunately, the Assassins Griffin and Yanmei came and engaged the Templars in a fight. During the scuffle, Grace and the boys were able to knock out their guards and fight against the Templar troops. However, in the commotion, Isaiah acquired the Fear prong and used its powers on all of them. When Yanmei tried to stop him, Isaiah fatally stabbed her, then left after renouncing the Templars. With nowhere else to go, the group returned to the Templars' camp, where Victoria had arrived with her men and revealed that Isiah had left a manifesto announcing his defection. With Isaiah in possession of two prongs, Victoria and Griffin agreed to a ceasefire until they defeated him.[20]

Search for the Devotion prong[edit | edit source]

Back at the Aerie, Grace and the other teenagers were given a choice by Victoria to walk away or face Isaiah; they all agreed to help stop the rogue Templar.[21] Grace, David, and Javier were then told that they were the only ones with ancestors who had interacted with the Trident's Devotion prong, whereupon David and Javier entered the Animus.[22]

Grace witnessed her brother desynchronize after his first attempt at reliving the memories of their ancestor Östen Jorundsson, a 10th-century farmer and warrior from Sweden.[22] Speaking with David afterwards, Grace learned that Östen had owned a slave, which David's moral compass could not handle. Despite her own misgivings, Grace volunteered to take her brother's place in the Animus and was able to accept their ancestor's past.[23]

The Collective Unconscious[edit | edit source]

After some time, Grace was contacted by David through the Animus and asked to switch places. Believing in him, she asked Victoria to give David one more chance and the doctor agreed. Outside the Animus, she saw David succeed in accepting Östen's past and connecting with his memories.[24]

Venturing around the Aerie, Grace came across Isaiah's library and found evidence of Isaiah being part of the Instruments of the First Will. She shared her findings with Monroe due to her distrust of the Assassins and the Templars. Asking about what Owen and Natalya were doing, Grace offered to join them. After being explained the dangers, Grace entered the Animus and joined Owen and Natalya on their journey to the "collective unconscious".[25]

Walking to a mountain, the trio found an elderly man with his dog. The man told them that he was dying but needed a favor, asking them to take his dog, to which Owen agreed wholeheartedly. Once the man passed, Owen stayed with the dog, who lay beside his dead master, while Grace and Natalya left to get back on their path.[26] Eventually, the girls were joined by Owen, who had convinced the dog to accompany him, and they all stopped at a crossroads, where they assessed various passersby's character to determine which one should become the dog's new owner. They ultimately settled on a female wanderer, who initially did not want the dog but was convinced by Owen to take it.[27]

Finding themselves at a new mountain, Grace, Owen, and Natalya were presented with two possible paths to take: one held a rope to the light, while the other was a steep climb. Grace persuaded the others to take the harsher route, which soon changed to have an abyss. During their trek, Grace saw Owen and Natalya nearly give up as Natalya almost fell into the abyss. Fortunately, Grace and Owen were able to pull her back up, and the trio continued their journey up to the summit, where they saw a dome emerge from the mountain.[28]

Entering the dome, they were met by a towering figure who introduced herself as Minerva. She explained that this memory had been placed in certain humans' subconscious and explained how her people had brought their own end due to their pride and vanity. She also told them about the artifacts left behind by her kind and how the Trident should not ever be allowed to fall into unworthy hands. After Minerva claimed that the teenagers' challenges had provided them with a "shield" against the Trident, the simulation ended, and Grace was helped out of the Animus by Owen and Monroe. The latter then told the teens to wait while he discussed their findings with Victoria.[29]

Mission to Sweden[edit | edit source]

After their meeting and David's last session,[30] Grace, Owen, and Natalya were chosen to go with Griffin to Västerås, Sweden, the last known location of the Devotion prong. Grace also informed everyone of her discovery of Isaiah's ties with the Instruments, much to Monroe's chagrin. After a night to prepare, Grace, Owen, and Natalya joined Griffin on a commercial flight set up by Victoria.[31]

Upon arrival, Grace used the Bleeding Effect to recall Östen's memories and lead the group to the prong's last known location. There, they came across Dolkkälla, a man-made spring and building named after a "dagger." With Griffin, Grace entered the building to investigate. They saw the prong on full display but heard of another American woman having come earlier, leading them to realize Isaiah must be nearby. After returning to Owen and Natalya, Griffin told the teenagers to stand by while he infiltrated the building after hours to steal the prong.[32]

While waiting, Grace and the others heard Abstergo forces coming and shots being fired. They soon saw Griffin running out of the building before being surrounded by Isaiah's men, and decided to help.[32] With Owen, Grace took down the Abstergo agents using a shovel. Struggling with a gunshot wound, Griffing gave the prong to Grace before the teenagers carried the injured Assassin to safety. They found refuge near a stream, where Griffin became unresponsive after passing his Hidden Blade to Owen so he could give it to Javier. Despite Owen giving him CPR, Griffin ultimately succumbed to his wounds.[33]

Reluctantly leaving the Assassin's body behind, Grace, Owen, and Natalya waited until there was silence and made their way to Griffin's car, only to realize they had forgotten the keys. Suddenly, the trio was surrounded by Isaiah and his men, and Grace lost the Devotion prong after being probed by Cole, who was being controlled by Isaiah with the Trident. Now wielding the complete artifact, Isaiah began mocking and reprimanding the teenagers for their feeble efforts. After Owen in turn mocked Isaiah and mentioned that he and his friends had accessed the Ascendance Event, Isaiah decided he could not risk the teenagers interfering with his plans and lined them up to be shot.[33]

As Isaiah pulled out a gun, he taunted Grace, Owen, and Natalya about their fears and insecurities. When he mentioned David being unprotected, a furious Grace lunged at him, but lowered herself after Isaiah pointed his gun at her. Suddenly, the van Poindexter drove out between them as Owen grabbed both girls and pulled them back. Sean revealed himself as the driver and told his friends to jump into the van while they all dodged the incoming gunfire. Driving away, the teenagers contacted Victoria and updated her on the recent events before the Templar chartered them a jet, allowing them to return to the Aerie.[34]

Defeating Isaiah[edit | edit source]

Preparing for Isaiah's imminent attack, Grace and the others placed traps around the Aerie and waited until they heard Isaiah's helicopters incoming. Readying themselves, the group held off Isaiah's foot soldiers, but their traps proved futile as more men still came. Soon, Grace and the others were pushed back further into the garage, just as Isaiah arrived and ordered their deaths. However, Sean challenged Isaiah to a duel and, after being rebuffed, claimed that he knew what the latter feared.[35]

Angered, Isaiah unleashed the Trident's powers against the teenagers, inflicting them with the same nightmares they had experienced in Mongolia. Owen managed to overcome the illusion by accepting his fears and encouraged his friends to do the same, allowing them to become immune to the Trident's fear powers. In response, Isaiah tried using the other prongs' abilities, but the teenagers similarly prevailed over the faith and devotion illusions. When Owen began to attack Isaiah, Grace and the others joined him. Soon, the rogue Templar was overwhelmed and disarmed, allowing Javier to kill him with Griffin's Hidden Blade. The teenagers then picked up the Trident together and experienced a surge of energy being transferred from them to the artifact, seemingly depowering it.[35]

In the aftermath, Victoria arranged for the teenagers to be returned to their families and promised that they would be left unbothered by the Templars. Arriving home, Grace and David agreed to keep what had transpired between them. Upon smelling their mother's banana bread, the Collins finally felt at home.[36]

Ancestry[edit | edit source]

Grace and her brother's lineage traced back to Östen Jorundsson, a 10th-century farmer from Sweden who fought in the Battle of Fýrisvellir and was married to Hilla, with whom he fathered three children: Tørgils, Agnes, and Greta.[22][37] The siblings were also descendants of Masireh, a 14th-century Wangaran gold trader from Timbuktu.[8]

During the 19th century, Grace and David's ancestors included Abraham, an Afro-American servant employed by William M. Tweed, and his daughter Eliza, who went on to join the Assassins during the American Civil War.[5] They also shared an ancestor who was a Tuskegee airman in the 1940s.[11]
