Cairo, originally known as Fustat, is the capital of Egypt and the largest city in the Middle East and Africa.

History

In 824, master thief Dervis and his bookkeeper Roshan found their way to Fustat after their time in Karachi. Continuing their hustle of being a middleman of transporting valuable items and explosives, their work proved fruitful. However, one morning, Roshan was arrested under false charges of robbery and held in a prison.[1] While in prison, she plotted her escape but found the attention of a hostile prisoner she called "Black Eyes." Finding her way out and fighting off Black Eyes,[2] she was imprisoned again due to her hesitance in front of a hooded stranger. However, the stranger offered her freedom in exchange of a job. With limited choices, she accepted. Then, the stranger broke her out of the Fustat prison.[3]

By the middle of the 13th century, both the Assassin Brotherhood and Knights Templar held presence in the city. In 1340, both the Assassins and Templars were looking for a Piece of Eden known as the Scepter of Aset. The Assassin Numa Al'Khamsin was heavily involved in the conflict in the city.[4]

In August 1794, the Assassin Arno Dorian sent an Apple of Eden he found in the Saint-Denis Temple to be held by the Mentor of the Assassins in Cairo.[5]

In 1869, the Egyptian Brotherhood tasked the British Assassin Pierrette Arnaud to infiltrate the Khedivial Opera House and assassinate her Templar target Albert Hawkins.[6] Successful, she killed him and found out of his plan to bomb the khedive's box to scare his guest Empress Eugénie de Montijo of France.[7] After discarding the body carefully with Egyptian Assassins Gamal Sabry and Safiya El-Nadi, Cairo's Assassin Council member Amira Benyamina assigned them to investigate Hawkinns' railroad line.[8]

After finding and assassinating a group of Templars, including Armen Kazan, with Pierrette's mentor Simeon Price, they regrouped back at the Cairo's base and tended to an injured Arnaud. Amira congratulated them on killing Kazan but tasked Pierrette and Simeon to find Art Hennighan and the Ankh, a Piece of Eden that resurrected a dead horse that Hennighan took from the cave at the end of the railroad.[9]

In four years, Pierrette returned back to Cairo and followed a mission from Amira to investigate a Templar illegal art ring near the Suez Canal. From her findings, she uncovered a list of businesses affiliated with the Templars back in England.[10]

In late 2012, William Miles, the leader of the Assassins, traveled to Cairo to obtain a power source for the Grand Temple[11] from the Egyptian Museum and arrived there on 9 December. Two days later, William was captured by the Templars' Sigma Team[12] led by Juhani Otso Berg,[13] and brought to Abstergo Industries' facility in Rome.[11]
