Abia the Shaded (died c. 420s BCE) was a mercenary who operated in Lakonia during the Peloponnesian War.[1]
Biography
Abia was the daughter of a Greek soldier, who was always seconded by her sister. After their father was killed in battle, she and her sister became orphans and soon parted ways. From then on, she swore that she would no longer be second to her sister and was determined not to let anyone get in her way. She even lived by a motto which she learned from her father; "Always the sheep, never the wolf."[2]
During the war the misthios Kassandra accepted a bounty placed on Abia.[3]
