Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is the upcoming twelfth main installment in the Assassin's Creed series developed by Ubisoft.[1] In the game, the player takes control of Eivor,[2] a viking who participated in raids in England.[3]
Driven from Norway by endless wars and dwindling resources in the ninth century AD, players will lead Eivor’s clan of Norsemen across the icy North Sea to the rich lands of England’s broken kingdoms. Players must carve out a new future for their clan, reliving the ruthless fighting style of Viking warriors with a revamped combat system that includes the ability to dual-wield weapons against a greater variety of enemies than ever before.
To secure resources players can lead raids to select locations using their longship to earn much-needed riches and resources. As the Vikings begin to settle in their new home, they encounter resistance from the Saxons including King Aelfred of Wessex, who denounces them as heathens and looks to be the sole ruler of a civilized England. Against all odds, Eivor must do what is necessary to keep Valhalla within reach.
Ubisoft Montreal is the lead development studio on Valhalla, working with other 14 studios on the game.[4] It was also reported that the game would be called Assassin's Creed Ragnarök.[5]
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla was first teased in an easter egg for Tom Clancy's The Division 2 as a poster reading "Valhalla" with a viking character holding something very similar to an Apple of Eden.[6] On 29 April 2020, the game was officially announced by Ubisoft with an 8-hour livestream by Boss Logic. Its title and setting were revealed along with the world premiere air-time of a cinematic trailer.[7]
Ubisoft announced several editions of Assassin's Creed: Valhalla.
