They call me many things: Murderer. Cutthroat. Thief. But you may call me The Octopus.

This article is about a subject that lacks an official name and is known only by its nickname, title, or alias.

"The stories will tell of how I killed Poseidon with his own trident and threw his fucking head to the sharks!"
―The Octopus[src]

The Octopus (died c. 420s BCE) was a member of the Gods of the Aegean Sea branch of the Cult of Kosmos.

Biography

The Octopus' real name was lost to history, but she was infamous on the seas, myths and rumors about her including a tale that she was slain by the Erinyes themselves, only to be resurrected in her current form.[1]

Nevertheless, she rose in the ranks of the Cult of Kosmos close enough to the Sage of the Gods of the Aegean Sea that she was considered to understand him best,[2] and she informed others of her branch of what their Sage wanted. During the Peloponnesian War, what the Sage demanded was for them to find the rogue Cultist known as Swordfish. While Sokos, the self-proclaimed Protector of the Obsidian Islands was tasked with this as Swordfish had passed through the Obsidian Islands, The Octopus sent him a letter telling him to "leave this manhunt to (her)".[3]

Due to this, The Octopus sailed south, towards the Volcanic Islands and Krete.[3] In the waters between the islands, her trireme, Theia, was met by ships sent by the leader of Messara, on the request of his son Melanthos, the Octopus' colleague among the Gods of the Aegean Sea.[2]

Despite these reinforcements, when The Octopus crossed paths with the Adrestia, a ship captained by the Spartan misthios Kassandra, The Octopus was slain, the Theia sunk.[4]

Trivia

  • After her submenu becomes available after gaining the clue from Sokos, her attire in the icon on the main Cultists tab will be that of a female Cultist, but her "veiled" appearance in her personal submenu uses the mask and cloak of male cultists.
