Temple of Hephaistos in Athens

The Temple of Hephaistos was a Doric temple erected on a small hill in the northwestern area of Athens, Greece.

Overlooking the Agora, the temple was dedicated to Hephaestus, the Greek god of the forge and fire, and to Athena Ergane, the goddess of the crafts and weaving. During the Peloponnesian War the heavily-guarded temple was frequented by Hermippos, a member of the Eyes of Kosmos branch of the Cult of Kosmos, and even visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[1]
