History
War with England
In the mid-19th century, the British Empire was at war with the Xhosa Kingdom of South Africa and thus Royal Navy sent a frigate, the HMS Birkenhead, as means of reinforcements. In 1852, however, the frigate hit a large rock, and it began to sink at the country's coast. Many British soldiers died, others were evacuated in time, and few survived the impact.[1]
