Aristophanes (c. 446 – c. 386 BCE) was an Athenian poet and playwright who lived during the 5th century BCE.
In 431 BCE, he attended Perikles' party where he met the Spartan misthios Kassandra. Later in 425 BCE, he assisted her in tarnish Kleon's reputation in Athens. Later, he wrote the play Lysistrata.
