Pylos is a town in Messenia, Greece. During the 1st millennium BCE, Pylos housed the Palace of Nestor, center of a Mycenean kingdom.
Pylos was the site of a battle fought between Sparta and Athens in 425 BCE, during the Peloponnesian War. The Spartan misthios Kassandra and her younger brother Alexios took part in the battle as well, fighting on opposing sides.[1]
