This article is about the political entity. For other uses, see Peloponnesian League (disambiguation).
The Peloponnesian League was an collective of Greek poleis–city-states–aligned with Sparta leading up to, and during, the Peloponnesian War. Many of the League's more influential and powerful leaders were members of the Cult of Kosmos.
Centered in and dominating the Peloponnese, the League was principally led by Sparta. The rising power of Athens' Delian League, coupled with Athens' heavy-handed dominance of its fellow League members and encroachment on Peloponnesian territory, led to the outbreak of war in 431 BCE.[1]
