Orichalcum is a legendary metal mentioned in various ancient Greek writings.
History
During the Peloponnesian War, orichalcum ore could be found throughout Greece, so that Sargon, a merchant in Phokis, used it as a form of currency in trading. The Spartan misthios Kassandra found bits of the ore during her travels and traded them with Sargon for equipment. Orichalcum was also offered as a reward for certain bounties.[1]
