Orichalcum is a legendary metal mentioned in various ancient Greek writings.

During the Peloponnesian War, Orichalcum ore could be found across Greece, so that Sargon, a merchant in Phokis, used it as a form of currency in trading. The Spartan misthios Kassandra found bits of the ore during her travels and traded them with Sargon for equipment.[1]
