The Message board was a public place for posting contracts, notices, and sundry calls for help in Greece of the 5th century BCE.
Marked by the statue depicting the Greek god Hermes in his role as the Messenger of the Gods, the message boards tended to be located near the agorae of towns and cities. During the Peloponnesian War, the message boards throughout Greece were used by multiple mercenaries, including the Spartan misthios Kassandra, to look for work.[1]
Trivia
- The message boards in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey are functionally the same as pigeon coops of Renaissance.
