A view of the Hill of the Sacred War

The Hill of the Sacred War was a region of Phokis, Greece. Largely uninhabited, the region did house the Desphina Fort.

History[edit | edit source]

In 431 BCE, after discovering her ship and crew had gone missing, the pirate Gelon sent the misthios Kassandrato investigate the southeastern shore of the region, believing that they, including her lover Gyke, had wandered off to the region. However, Kassandra discovered the ship had sunk, with its crew and Gyke dead. Kassandra recovered Gyke's armband and returned it to Gelon in Kirrha.[1]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The name of the region is likely named after the Sacred War, a serious of wars that involved or were fought by Phokis.
