The Adrestia was a mercenary ship captained by Barnabas, and in service to the Spartan mercenary Kassandra, during the Peloponnesian War. [1]

The vessel was armed with a crew capable of firing flaming arrows at enemy vessels, as well as a ram that could split a enemy ship in two if struck properly.

Trivia

  • In Greek mythology, Adrestia was the daughter of Ares and Aphrodite, and she was venerated as a goddess of revolt, retribution, and balance between good and evil.
  • The name befits a fast ship: in ancient Greek Ἀδρήστεια means 'inescapable' or 'she who cannot be escaped'. It was also an epithet of the goddess of retribution, Nemesis.
