Athira was the daughter of Pittheus, a queen of Athens through her marriage with Aegeus, and mother of Theseus in Greek mythology.
Aside from her husband, Athira was also possessed by Poseidon, giving Theseus a divine father to go along with his mortal one. Athira gave birth to her son on the island of Sphairos.[1]
