Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a commune in southwestern France. In the early 17th century, it was the richest merchant port in the Labourd region.[1]
History[edit | edit source]
After a time spent in Bayonne, the travelling witch-hunt tribunal of Templar Pierre de Lancre moved to Saint-Jean-de-Luz, a location close to the Castle of Saint-Pée, which was being used as their headquarters, as well as the temporary location of the recently recovered Shroud of Eden.[2] During a procession for an execution, a riot led by a group of sailors recently arrived from Newfoundland broke out, cutting off Pierre de Lancre and his minions from reaching the Castle of Saint-Pée, where an infiltration by the Assassins was taking place.[1]
