Tomoe was a Japanese woman who lived in Aizu during the Edo period. In the spring of 1868, she went to a national festival that celebrated spring and conversed with her fellow single girls. While there, Tomoe laughed and lost her composure following Yasuhime's remarks on Shiba Tanomo's daughter Shiba Atsuko injuring her head.[1]
