Hamid Al-Haleem was an assistant to the scholar Ahmad ibn Musa at Baghdad's House of Wisdom during the 9th century.

Biography[edit | edit source]

In the 860s, Ahmad was enlisted by Doctor Hassan, a secret member of the Order of the Ancients, to assist in the construction of a machine using ancient technology that the Order had found at one of their excavation sites in the desert. While Ahmad was away from the House of Wisdom, Hamid was approached by a masked man, who threatened him to remain silent and to keep people away from the excavation site.[1]

When Ahmad's fellow Hidden One Basim Ibn Ishaq arrived at the House of Wisdom to look for him, Hamid approached him and claimed to know where Ahmad was, offering to lead Basim to him. Along the way, Hamid inquired about Basim's past visits to the House of Wisdom and claimed that more young people should follow his example. He then asked if Basim had followed his youthful passion and become a scholar, to which the Hidden One claimed that he could not stay in a single place for long and that he was a "man on a mission."[1]

Eventually arriving in a garden, Hamid called out to the nearby guards, claiming he was under attack, and ran away while the guards fought Basim. After the Hidden One eliminated the guards, he angrily confronted Hamid, who apologized for leading him into the ambush and told him about the masked man who had threatened his life if he refused to comply with his orders. When Basim inquired about Ahmad's whereabouts, Hamid claimed that he did not know where the scholar was but that he could direct Basim to the Order's excavation site, and proceeded to draw him a map.[1]
