Sól was the personification of the sun in Norse mythology.

Mythology

In the both Prose Edda and the Poetic Edda Sól is said to have been the sister of Máni, goddess of the moon, and daughter of Mundilfari. In the Prose Edda she was the wife of Glenr. Much like Odin, she was foretold to be slain by a wolf during Ragnarök.[1]

Legacy and influence

During the 9th century, Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir collected a bow named after her.[2]
