Multiplayer
The multiplayer aspect of the Assassin's Creed franchise was presented as an Animus-based training program used by Abstergo Industries in order to prepare new Templar agents for the fight against the Assassins. Introduced in 2010 with Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and continued in the subsequent games Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Assassin's Creed III, Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag released from 2011–2013, the multiplayer was composed of several game modes comprised mainly of hunting and killing an assigned target, while evading pursuers at the same time.
This gameplay feature lasted for just over a decade until Ubisoft announced in August 2022 that it would be decommissioning support services for its legacy games and their extra content on 1 October, rendering these characters, settings, and abilities permanently unavailable.[1]
