Sometime before Kassandra's arrival she unnwillingly worked with the isu Xarios, delivering him the human Rhene and him telling her to send the hybrid into a trap if ever she would question where the human was.

Determined to find Alkon's mother, Kassandra tracked down the lsu Harbormaster. At the misthios arrival the Harbormaster asked her if the dikastes were there to analyze the Coral permutation fastened to their hulls. Kassandra slightly confused said no and asked the Isu if she knew where Rhene was. Seeing that they were being watched and knowing she would be killed for telling the truth the isu went down on her knees and pleaded for her life, meanwhile whispering what she knew to the misthios. The harbormaster told Kassandra that her associate wasnt far from them but that there was a trap set for her.
