Robbers' North Outpost was one of the main locations used by the robbers that terrorized the Al-Ula Valley in the 860s. It was located in eastern Ramm Valley.
History
In the 860s, Nimlot ordered his men to kidnap Basim ibn Ishaq's father, Ishaq ibn Khalid, and had him taken to their outpost in Ramm Valley. Basim travelled to the valley, and located the outpost due to a map he found at the Robbers' Water Supply. In the den, Basim came upon a renegade robber locked in a cage who offered information in exchange for his freedom. The man revealed Nimlot's plot and location, further explaining that in order to gain entry to the Roman Fort Ruins, he would need to use a whistle to signal the others. Basim picked up a bone whistle from a nearby table and set the man free before heading over to the place his father was being kept.[1]
At the site, Basim both recovered a clue to one of the robbers' hidden caches, as well as one of the caches itself.[2]
