Sweden is a Scandinavian Nordic country in Northern Europe which borders Norway to the west and north and Finland to the east.
History
Middle Ages
During the Norse invasion of England, a Viking by the name of Vagn came to Ravensthorpe. There, he met the Raven Clan's jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir and introduced her to various settlements to raid. On his map of raid locations was a somewhat wrongly drawn version of Sweden.[1]
During the Viking Age, a group of Hidden Ones were present in Sweden during the reign of King Eric the Victorious. Led by Torgny the Lawspeaker, Eric's old advisor, the Hidden Ones fought against Eric's nephew Styrbjörn the Strong, who was influenced by proto-Templars and plotted to overthrow his uncle.[2]
The Hidden One Thorvald Hjaltason led Eric's men to wage a guerrilla war against Styrbjörn's forces, impeding their march to Uppsala, and recovered the Devotion Prong of the Trident of Eden, which Styrbjörn had seized from his ally, King Harald Bluetooth, shortly before he betrayed and abandoned him. Without Harald's support, and having suffered heavy casualties at the hands of Thorvald and Eric's men, Styrbjörn's army was defeated during the decisive Battle of Fýrisvellir. Styrbjörn himself was killed by the farmer and warrior Östen Jorundsson, who was given the Devotion Prong by Thorvald to hide.[2]
Early modern period
In 1738, the Assassins started using the Swedish Levant Company as a cover for their operations. The Swedish Assassins were later approached by the Colonial Brotherhood to construct their flagship, the Aquila, in 1748, but were unable to do so due to the increasing Templar activity in the shipyards of Stockholm.[3]
In 1818, Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte became King of Sweden under the title Charles XIV through his adoption by King Charles XIII of Sweden.[4]
Modern times
In 2016, the Assassin Griffin and the teenagers Owen Meyers, Natalya Aliyev, and Grace Collins flew to Sweden in search of the Trident of Eden's Devotion Prong. Discovering that the artifact had been recovered by Dolkkälla, a bottled spring water company headquartered in Västerås, Griffin stole it at night but was ambushed by brainwashed Abstergo agents serving the Templar defector Isaiah. Griffin soon succumbed to his injuries, and Isaiah captured Owen, Natalya, and Grace, taking the prong and preparing to execute them. However, the teenagers were saved by their friend Sean Molloy and escaped back to the Aerie in the United States, where they resolved to make their final stand against Isaiah.[2]
