Ranofer was the deceased brother of Raia who lived in Upper Egypt during the 1st century BCE.
Biography
After his death, Ranofer had an amulet fashioned to him by his sister, who placed it in his tomb situated above Set-Ma'at. In 38 BCE, Ranofer's tomb was desecrated by a group of tomb robbers, who used the personal hammer of his brother-in-law, Anen, to ransack the tomb and took his mummified body.[1]
Anen's body was later taken to a bandit camp in the Valley of the Kings, where it was burned along with other mummies. The Hidden One Bayek of Siwa later arrived and eliminated the bandits, having being sent by Anen and Raia to uncover the operation. Too late to recover Anen's body, Bayek retrieved the amunet and returned to Raia. Believing that Ranofer'passage to the Egyptian afterlife had been disrupted, Raia gave the amulet to Bayek instead.[1]
Later that year, Bayek seemingly travelled to the Duat, where he was able to find Ranofer's spirit and give the amulet to him.[2]
