The Children of Cain was a collective of individuals or the descendants of Cain that followed the teachings of Cain, the son of Adam and Eve. They are the oldest known precursors to the Order of the Knights Templar.[4]

Sometime after the Toba catastrophe and the Human-Isu War ended, Cain killed his brother Abel to acquire the Apple of Eden possessed previously by their parents. For his crime, Cain was branded with a red cross.[2] The Children of Cain named this cross the Mark of Cain[4] and, millennia later, it would be adopted by their future incarnation, the Knights Templar, as their insignia.[2]
